Slow Food World Activity 2015 /EN/
As you may already know, from May 1 to October 31 Slow Food will have its own space within Expo 2015 in Milan.
Our slogan is “Save biodiversity, save the planet,” because we will be spending the six months of the event talking specifically about biodiversity, in a space that includes an exhibition, a tasting area, a food garden and a theater for meetings, small conferences and film screenings in line with our philosophy. All of our activities at Expo in the next few months are described on the website www.slowfood.com/expo2015 (in English, Italian and Mandarin).
From May 14 to 17, Slow Food is organizing another important international event, in Genoa. Slow Fish is a celebration of good, clean and fair fish and seafood, now in its seventh edition. To find out what’s new this year, go to the website slowfish.slowfood.it/en. Even if you can’t make it to Genoa, you can find out more information about the Slow Fish campaign (in English, French, Spanish, German and Italian), and about the Common Fisheries Policy in the Slow Europe section of the website, in English and Italian (www.slowfood.com/sloweurope/en/topics/pesca/).
Another upcoming event, this one organized by Slow Food USA, is Slow Meat, to be held in Denver, Colorado, from June 4 to 6. Information at the event can be found here (www.slowfoodusa.org/slow-meat-2015). We now have a section on the international site dedicated to meat consumption (in Italian and English), promoting more conscious consumption and collecting stories from people working on the issue in many different fields (www.slowfood.com/slowmeat/en/).
The new Slow Food Foundation for Biodiversity website (in English and Italian) has been active since May 1. The redesign gives more space to images and videos and also features a major innovation relating to the 10,000 Gardens in Africa project: geolocalization. It will now be possible to see exactly where the gardens are, as well as reading all about the project: www.slowfoodfoundation.com.
In the last few months we have also activated mini-sites that explain Slow Food’s policies and philosophies in different languages:
French: www.slowfood.com/network/fr/
Spanish: www.slowfood.com/network/es/
German: www.slowfood.com/network/de/
Portuguese: www.slowfood.com/network/pt-pt/
Russian: www.slowfood.com/network/ru/
Every week a different product from the Slow Food Ark of Taste will be presented during a weekly slot on the BBC Food Programme. The first clip was aired on April 13 and featured Geitost, a Norwegian cheese. On April 20 the focus was on the Sea Island Red Pea from the United States. The collaboration between Slow Food and the BBC started during the last edition of Salone del Gusto and Terra Madre, in 2014. On that occasion, the BBC was present with a booth where a team from the Food Programme met and interviewed producers and farmers representing some products from the Ark of Taste. Now BBC Radio 4 wants to broadcast those stories from the Ark of Taste for BBC radio audiences around the world. Interviews with food producers from all continents will be aired every week
